Dr. Mercer Rang's classic text on children's fractures has been revised and updated by two eminent orthopedic surgeons from Children's Hospital—San Diego. Continuing Dr. Rang's tradition, Drs. Wenger and Pring provide a uniquely practical, readable overview of children's fractures, emphasizing diagnosis, treatment, common pitfalls, and communication with parents and other healthcare professionals.

This edition features over 400 new illustrations. New chapters cover casts and epidemiology and prevention of fractures. Elbow injuries are covered in greater detail in two chapters. New information on imaging and new MRI scans have been added. This edition also has a more user-friendly two-color design.

    Doody's Core Title Review:
    Rating:
Reviewer: Edward Abraham, MD(University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine)
This book represents a mature distillation of current knowledge and previous experiences. Since Walter Blount's 1955 work on children's fractures, there has been an explosion of publications on the subject. Recent significant advances in children's trauma care are lacking with the exception of cannulated screws, flexible nails, decreased hospitalization time, and conscious sedation. The publisher is to be commended for the superior style in which the information is presented. Traditionally, the Canadian authors have found ways to present medical information in a relevant, lively style to the readers. I hope the new editors will continue with this approach. I enjoyed reading this work and strongly recommend it to all medical professionals caring for children's orthopedic trauma.
